The "Fashion Police"

This morning, I ventured to the Orlando Courthouse to pay a traffic ticket. Upon entering, I was forced to pass through security. When my purse passed through the scanner, an alarm sounded and the woman called for a "lockdown." She asked me what was in my purse. I proceeded to ramble off that I had a wallet, checkbook, tampon case, etc. She said, "You have a stun gun in here." By this time I was so afraid. I had police officers all around me wanting to know what I was planning on doing with a stun gun in the Courts. They began searching my purse for the contraband. "It looks like a pink cell phone," I helped. A kind officer asked me to go out and put the stun gun in my car. He then mentioned that he had never seen a stun gun like mine. He asked me to show him how it turns on and how it works. I told him that I stunned my sister at Christmas. The officer found this extremely amusing and asked if I put the video on YouTube, which I did not.
After I cleared security the second time around, I walked to the fourth floor and paid my fines. As I waited in the long driver's license line, I noticed the woman standing in front of me. She was very beautiful with blonde hair, a light pink cardigan, and sleek black pants. She was talking about her friends that she was the fashion police and mentioned several faux pas she had caught that morning. I thought it was lovely to have another sole sister, but I looked to her shoes. She had on leopard print flats which were looking quite odd. She had taken several pairs of earrings and clasped them to the toe area of the shoe. I thought that it looked very tacky, and that she as a "fashion police" was not doing a very good job at enforcing the rules. Let me know if you think she should receive  a citation for poor shoe choice.

The top two picks from Nine West

A few days ago, I received an invitation for an interview this coming Monday. I decided to go to Nine West to find some spunky shoes to go with my new colorful jacket. When the sales representative from Nine West approached me in the store and asked what I was looking for specifically, she directed me to the plain black or tan closed toe pumps. I explained to her that on my interview, I wanted shoes that would speak for themselves. She was quite surprised that I wanted colorful sandals to wear to interview for the job I wanted. I explained to her how my interview went last year for Pine Castle.
My interview took place in June. I wore a sleeveless light blue dress shirt, an off-white knee length skirt, and yellow high heeled sandals. The moment I walked into the office, I received praise for my ensemble. When the administrator of the school saw me, he was impressed and I immediately stood far above all the other applicants. Staff at the school still know me by my statement making shoes. I want to make that kind of lasting impression again. Now, I know that if I were to work in another industry where I were more like a drone than a human being, plain black pumps might be appropriate; however, I am an English teacher! We're supposed to be eccentric.
I narrowed my selections to two shoes. I want you to comment on which shoe you think I bought to wear with my new big print floral jacket.

Side note: When I was at the register purchasing my shoes, I asked the sales woman what her favorite part about working at Nine West shoe store was. I fully expected the answer, "Well, I get a discount!" That, however, was not her reply. She said that she really enjoyed watching all the new fashions come in. Fashions change all the time, and new products are always coming out. She said that she particularly enjoys it when shoes which she particularly dislikes at first are shelved. She watches the shoes over time and sees people trying them on. She eventually sees what the designers see and falls in love with the fashion originally despised. I thought it was a very interesting answer. All right, now vote on my shoes.

The Interview Shoes

Good morning, readers. I am so sorry for neglecting you for a few weeks. I have recently moved out of my Orlando apartment and into a friend's apartment for a short time. I am still looking for a job for the upcoming school year, but God is moving. Two days ago, I received an invitation to interview at a prestigious school in Orlando. So now the question is....What do I wear on my interview? Now I have tons of fabulous shoes that I can wear and look great; however, they are all in storage. That means that I need to go shopping for appropriate interview shoes.
The interview shoes I need should have some color. I want them to complement my outfit but also speak for themselves. I want them to show my future employers that I pay attention to the details, in this case the fashion details. I am going out today to look for these interview shoes. I'll post again tomorrow to show you what I've found. I am updating the covet corner with a shoe I found on sale at Stein Mart. It is a fun and flirty summer wedge sandal perfect for a day on the town with the gals.
